Our marketing automation specialist Elin explains
For anyone who is new to marketing automation and perhaps unsure whether it is something worth taking on, we would like to introduce our advisor and specialist Elin Johansson. Who is she, and why has she focused on marketing automation?
What is the big deal with marketing automation?
Automated marketing and communication can sound impersonal. But in fact it is about hitting the mark and giving recipients what they are asking for, Elin explains. She also mentions soft values and keeping customers happy. It is easy to see that relationship building is something that engages her. It has driven me through my studies and in sales and service roles – I love meeting customers. Another part of the drive is the challenge of creating value in a clever way. Taking something big and complex and boiling it down to a flow that just keeps ticking along, says Elin.
Describe the value of marketing automation in one sentence?
– Time-saving relationship building for rewarding relationships in both directions.
One word, then?
– Resource-smart.
A simpler word?
– Smart!
Which companies can benefit from investing in marketing automation?
Everything from large, centrally managed giants to one-person businesses. There is a lot to gain, and no limit to what can be automated.
What is needed from the company?
You need to know what you want to automate. When there is a marketing plan, there are automations that save time.
What do you need to understand to start using automations?
If you are responsible for marketing and sales, you do not need to be technically skilled. You leave that to your IT manager, Elin notes. What you do need is a plan. You do not gain much from creating flows blindly without a plan, unless it is a simple onboarding flow with a welcome email. First and foremost – what does your marketing look like today, and where do you want to go? From there we can identify opportunities, says Elin, who is happy to be a sounding board.
